Our Journey Towards Energy Independence: Choosing LiFEPO Batteries in Ireland

As an Irish household, we recently made the decision to install Sattel branded LiFEPO lithium iron phosphate batteries in our home. With a monthly electricity consumption of 1200 kWh and a 6 kW solar installation, we were excited about the potential cost savings and environmental benefits that this investment could bring. Prior to the installation we were paying approx 40cts per kilowatt hour so in the region of 4800Euro per year.

The installation of the solar panels , batteries, and hybrid inverter cost approx 18’000Euro and with smart use of the batteries we expect to reduce the bill over a 12 month period down to approx 1’200 Euro thereby giving us a return on our investment in 5 years at current prices. Additionally and very importantly the installation will take over supply to the house should the grid experience short periods of downtime during the current energy crisis.

One of the main reasons we chose LiFEPO batteries is their long lifespan. These batteries are known for their durability and can last for many years without requiring frequent maintenance or replacements. This was an important consideration for us, as we wanted a battery solution that would be cost-effective in the long term.

In addition to their long lifespan, LiFEPO batteries also have a high energy density, which means that they can store a large amount of energy in a small space. This was particularly appealing for us, as we have limited space in our home and wanted a battery solution that would not take up too much room.

Since installing the Sattel LiFEPO batteries, we have been able to significantly reduce our reliance on the grid. By storing excess solar energy during the week and taking advantage of free electricity from the grid on weekends, we have been able to lower our overall electricity costs, decrease our carbon footprint and provide a grid backup in the event of blackouts.

Overall, we are very happy with our decision to invest in Sattel LiFEPO batteries. These batteries have proven to be a reliable and cost-effective solution for storing excess solar energy and reducing our reliance on the grid. We would definitely recommend them to other households looking to make a similar investment.
